Pattern Making for
Full Figure & Plus Size Women
1X - 8X / 22W - 50W
Buying or making clothes for the full
figure and plus size woman can be very stressful and difficult. There is
literally NO standard size that fits properly. Pattern making is the answer to
the problem. Why make patterns? The answer is very simple – you will be using
your own measurements or the measurements of the person you are wanting to sew
for, therefore all the garments you make WILL fit those particular measurements.
Each class begins by covering the basics
of pattern making – how to take the measurements, then using those measurements
to make the original bodice pieces, how to make collars, sleeves and various
necklines you can use to make an entire wardrobe of dresses, blouses, slacks,
jackets and more. We will give you a wide variety of styles; however once you
learn and practice the basics, you will be able to draw patterns that you see in
pattern books, imitate clothing in department stores or any item of clothing
that you want to design for yourself.
Whatever your figure challenges are – high
hip, sway back, rounded shoulders, etc are taken into account when your own
measurements are taken. If you are large busted in comparison to the rest of
your body, or have larger than average hips and legs – pattern making will solve
your problems.
Pattern making is not difficult to learn.
Just as you would follow a new recipe step by step to make a dessert or
casserole, you also learn pattern making one step at a time, with illustrations
and diagrams to go with each step.
